For Japón, Reygadas cast non-professional actors, shot on beautiful 16mm film, and created an impressive soundtrack featuring works by Bach and Arvo Pärt. In a style reminiscent of Tarkovsky, Reygadas crafted a deeply human story about life and love, mortality, and redemption.
